Explore boolean algebra; analysis and design of combinational and sequential logic circuits; state machine design and state tables and graphs; simulation of combinational and sequential circuits; applications to computer design; and hardware description languages (HDLs) and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Three lecture hours and one recitation hour a week for one semester. Electrical and Computer Engineering 316 and Electrical Engineering 316 may not both be counted.
