Same as Art History 328L and Middle Eastern Studies 343 (Topic 11). Survey the history of the medieval Middle East, from the period of Late Antiquity (in the seventh century) to the rise of early modern empires of the Safavids, Ottomans, and Mughals (in the seventeenth century), through close examination of the meaning and significance of 100 objects. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
