Designed for students about to begin appellate clerkships. Explore the writing and research skills expected of appellate clerks, as well as a glimpse into the judicial process at the appellate level. Analyze briefs and record excerpts, write bench memos, and draft and edit opinions and dissents. For each semester hour of credit earned, the equivalent of one lecture hour a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Law 179M, 279M, 379M, 479M, 579M, 679M (Topic: Appellate Clerkship Writing), Law 232H, 332H, 432H, Law 284Q, 384Q, 484Q. Offered on the pass/fail basis only.
