Overview of representative Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) modalities and their role in shaping an emerging wellness-oriented, patient-centered model of care. Evaluation of current research evidence of CAM therapies in four domains: mind-body medicine, biologically based practices, manipulative and body-centered therapies, and energy medicine. Includes a hands-on experiential component for familiarization of some fundamental CAM concepts. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Nursing 347 (Topic: Compl/Altern Med in Hlth Care) and Nursing 338 may not both be counted. Offered on the letter-grade basis only. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
