Defines the role of Islam and views of Muslims in the early history of the United States, and introduces students to major issues concerning contemporary American Muslims. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: American Studies 370 (Topic: History of Islam in the US), 370 (Topic 61), History 350R (Topic 22), Islamic Studies 372 (Topic 21), Religious Studies 346 (Topic 10), 346U. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing and six semester hours of coursework in history.
