Start a company with a team. Explore skill development and mentoring in start-up formation, technology development, market validation, marketing, sales, operations, human resources, program management, and finance. Discuss the role of intellectual property and the social issues in design, as well as ethical and safety considerations. The equivalent of three lecture hours a week for one semester, with additional hours to be arranged. Only one of the following may be counted: Electrical and Computer Engineering 364D, 364E, Electrical Engineering 364D, 364E. Prerequisite: Credit with a grade of at least C- in Aerospace Engineering 333T, Biomedical Engineering 333T, Chemical Engineering 333T, Civil Engineering 333T, Electrical and Computer Engineering 333T (or Electrical Engineering 333T), Mechanical Engineering 333T, or Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering 333T; credit with a grade of at least C- or registration for Electrical and Computer Engineering 438 (or Electrical Engineering 438), 440 (or Electrical Engineering 440), 445L (or Electrical Engineering 445L), 445S (or Electrical Engineering 445S), 460J (or Electrical Engineering 460J), 461L (or Electrical Engineering 461L), 462L (or Electrical Engineering 462L), or 471C (or Electrical Engineering 471C ); and consent of instructor.
